The development of high quality passives for use in today’s digital cable networks has been an exciting challenge for PDI. The requirement was to build a line of splitters with performance parameters far above anything previously produced for the cable industry and to do so at a very competitive price.
We began our project in early 1998. We wanted a splitter that had high port-to-port isolation, especially in the sub-channel range, return loss greater than -20dB, frequency response less than +.5dB, intermodulation characteristics better than -105dBc and was user friendly and reliable. The 5 Series® spiltter line was the result.
Since 1998 there was a broadening of the parameters for operation. Units had to be surged with various types of voltages duplicating voltage transients and lightning strikes encountered in actual operation. Also, the performance had to be equally as good at -40° F and +150° F as it was at 75° F.
PDI invested heavily in test equipment to verify performance. We purchased a Matrix Signal Generator for intermodulation tests, a Microprocessor Controlled Temperature Chamber, Ring Wave and Combo Wave Surge Generators and associated Network Analyzers and peripherals. Additional tests were performed by independent testing laboratories for corrosion, housing and label integrity, air tightness, RFI and vibration. PDI had the product line tested and UL approved and we continues to improve upon this already strong foundation.
We feel the PDI 5 Series® splitters offers you an outstanding value for your investment dollar.
Sincerely yours,
PDI Engineering
